in 05 we sorta stepped into class by chance... yup all 32 of us..(sorry gary..)
every single one of us was not veri close to each other... like flour lidat.. san san de..
we all had a kind of wall around us.. we didn wanna reach out.. and didn wan others to reach in..
den some point in tym in 05, spencer suddenly moved to the other end of the clas... i wondered why... den i found out tt gary had arrived... now we haf 33 ppl.. yay. i thot, the more the merrier... in 05, the class was sorta unlucky i wld say... esp in sch competitions... well... life goes on despite failure.. and it went on to 2006..
ok... 2006, i thot to myself.. wads gonna happen to this clas??? well... we sota had a change of luck maybe... we kept winning... dats great... i thot. den again in some pt in tym i lost spencer again.. the class was lyk flooded... i was den pissed with myself for not crying.. ok.. we did send off spencer.. but we received bac a class tt feels for each other.. we are now a class without walls.. and erm we went fr flour to being lyk dough... stuck to each other...

yupp. sorry that i made some funny thinggy as posts.. super sorry... anw on tuesday we went to sch-- singapore conference hall-- not school-- for the syf rehearsal. the place is super cold lor just like wad laoshi said-- tai shang xiang dong tian[ok basically this means 'on stage it is like winter' in chinese. pai seh, my laoshi is fr taiwan and my comp cant type chinese]. it was so cold i just cant play a single note in tune becoz my hand was lyk numbb.. and then i also realised the interesting bit abt playing on stage. becoz on stage you hav some thinggy tt reflects the sound out into the audience(supposedly), and den it jus sounds lyk ur playing by urself... or at least u play the loudest among everyone else.. so i got worried.. becoz when u cant hear others and can only hear ur self there are two possiblities-- 1. it really just so happened tht u played louder. this is bad becoz it proves tt u arent getting ur dynamics[volume of the music] right. OR 2. you are playing very very very very very off key-- or in other words, veryveryveryvery out of tune--the difference is so big tt u sound so different and erm outstanding ... in a bad way of course. and becoz i was worried, i went to ask other ppl if they hav the same prob.. well they do... ok.. so maybe this is normal... when we went back to school, we got a debrief... vp was dere wif us at conference hall, so he had his bit to say... but not before the teacher gav her comment.. btw, this tr is an alumni of CO.. so dont play play ok... basically what the teacher said was that it was overall ok.. just tt we didnt haf enough 'tai feng' or expressive movements when we were playing... among those who didnt , erhu section--my section-- was probably the worst... she did also say that tanbo--or plucked-string section-- were not bad becoz they were alway lookin at the conductor, cello-bass were the best in tai feng, and the wind section were alright... just not erhu.. come on.. even gaohu and zhonghu passed the test.. oh ya and percussion was also in timing... ok. now lets hear wad the vp had to say.... basically he said about the same as the teacher... just that he added some points. he said tt suona was very steady in their short notes, wind section as a whole was alright, and flutes should prevent themselves from sounding flat in long notes, however, their tai feng was not bad... he also said that the yangqin sounded nice.. and the plucked- string section kept looking at the conductor and therefore were in timing--tts gd btw.. percussion was alright except for some stuff which i forgot wad.. the cello and basses were the best in show... they played well and were superbly expressive.. he even picked out some ppl that he said were good performers. he said nothing about zhonghu really.. he also said that gaohu was not bad.. now. here was my judgement day.. he was saying that erhu section was totally like a bunch of wooden blocks.. totally and utterly expressionless.... he also said tt when erhu section stood, they should not stand on one foot, when they sat, they should sit up straight--which we didnt-- and that they should look at the conductor instead of bending their heads and looking at their instruments... finally... finally he said something good abt erhu section... he said tt for the past few times he heard we were also out of timing when we accompany the cello part, but at that time he heard it, it was better then last time... okay.. im not saying that they shouldnt point out our mistakes. but at least dont make it sound humiliating. they critisized us by comparing us to other sections, and of course by natural reaction, the ppl in the other sections laughed. maybe we shld see how i felt. totally unexpressable... come on, at least i tried to do some tai feng and yet becoz of some other ppl who refused to move, u're saying tt i didnt do enough.. what do u want me to do, move until i fall off my chair?? move till people think tt i'm insane???? in case u dunno, during the 50th anniversary concert, i moved and den u ppl asked me to move less becoz i looked funny moving when no one else is, and den now you're saying tt i didnt try hard enough?? i mean what is this man??? ok fine. all because of some extremely stubborn wood blocks tt refused to move, i get lyk almost humiliated... do u know tt horrible feeling??? its lyk you've already tried, but because of some people who refuse to try after times and times of reminders, and becoz they're supposed to rep the best and when they're found not trying, u get the blame together wif them, and its not tt u didnt try.. u DID... but because of those ppl, others think tt u arent trying at all.. i am feeling that i am super insignificant. i feel tt i am effortless.. i have already tried; i alr put in what i've got from dynamics to movements to having eye contact wif the conductor and trying to look at him most of the time to improving technically... i hav already put in effort.. what more do you want from me??? if the orchestra is supposed to play soft but my section plays loudly, i try my best to control my volume, but it seeems tt even if i do not make a sound, its not gonna acheive the effect at all. or perhaps the other extreme. if we're supposed to gradually get louder and louder, even if i start off not playing and end up playing so hard tt my strings break or the skin of my fingers ripps off, there's not much difference if everybody decides to remain at the same volume... i may sound as though i am making myself the innocent victim... please pardon me... i jus cant bottle it up any longer or i'll probably rip into shreds. RRRRRAAAARRRHHH!!!!!!!!! ahh. much better..
